Crompton Greaves wins order for wind off shore connection in Germany

Crompton Greaves Ltd. (CG), part of the Avantha Group and global electrical solution provider, is part of the consortium of four companies that has bagged a prestigious turnkey contract from Amrumbank West GmbH (AWG) for its German wind farm project. Amrumbank is a 100 percent subsidiary of E.ON Climate and Renewables Central Europe GmbH. “We thank E.ON for the trust placed in CG and are very proud to provide them with our proven and unique technology for wind off shore connection (HVAC). CG plans to augment its foray in the rapidly growing segment of off shore wind, with its competitive off ering in renewable energy solutions and application,” said Laurent Demortier, CEO and MD, Crompton Greaves. As per the order, CG will design, engineer, supply and integrate all critical high voltage power equipment to connect the 33 kV and 155 kV networks, including power transformers, high voltage and medium voltage switchgear, as well as protection and automation equipment. Amrumbank West Wind farm is located 40 km off shore in the North Sea. Th e off shore substation will transform the voltage to 155 kV and transmit 300 MW power to the electricity grid, operated by Tennet TSO GmbH (Transmission System Operator), and connected to the HelWin 2 off shore HVDC platf orm.
