GL Garrad Hassan caters for wind in Pakistan

If recent studies conducted by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratories are to be believed, the coastal belt of Pakistan features a wind corridor with an exploitable wind power potential of up to 50,000 MW. Till date, the Government of Pakistan has awarded lett ers of intent (LoI) to 35 wind power projects with a total capacity of more than 1,500 MW and international development banks are fi nancing several of these projects. To accommodate the demand for consulting services from project developers, lenders and investors created by this expanding market, GL Garrad Hassan has appointed Mayura Botejue as its Country Advisor in Pakistan. GL Garrad Hassan is one of the world’s largest dedicated renewable energy consultancies and a recognized technical authority on the subject. It off ers independent technical and engineering services, products and training courses to the onshore and off shore wind, wave, tidal and solar sectors. In his new role, Karachi based Mr Botejue will be responsible to develop new business and support GL Garrad Hassan’s on-going activities in the country. He has 18 years of wind energy project experience of providing technical, operational and strategic leadership for the renewable energy industry. Before joining GL Garrad Hassan, he worked for GE Wind Energy, USA and NEG Micon, USA. Commenting on Mr Botejue’s appointment, Mr. Mathias Steck, GL Garrad Hassan Regional Manager, Asia Pacifi c and Senior Vice President, said: “Mr Botejue’s experience in the Pakistani wind energy market will help to further expand GL Garrad Hassan’s renewables business and identify new opportunities.”GL Garrad Hassan, the Renewables business segment of the GL Group, is already active in the Pakistani market, conducting wind resource assessments and technical due diligence on behalf of equity investors and lenders.
